CityLife Kids

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it”
Proverbs 22:6

We run Sunday School sessions for children aged 4-11 [check this], which start at the end of the worship section of the service.

We like to encourage all children to attend the Sunday School/creche as this benefits both the children and the adults, who can then listen to the sermon with fewer distractions!

“It is our prayer that the children will have a solid foundation on which to build their faith in Christ, have a deeper understanding of the Bible and God, and to love and experience the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal saviour. Most of all, we like to do this in a fun and engaging way to inspire and equip the children as they enter adolescence.”Abigail

Edward and Abi have 2 children born in 2016 and 2020.

Creche

The creche is available for children under 4 and is filled with toys, books and activities for young children. The creche is staffed by volunteers each week, but parents are welcome to stay with their children. The creche also contains baby changing facilities and comfy sofas for feeding. Young children should be taken through to the creche at the end of the worship section of the service, when the announcement is given.

“We adore children and are honoured to be part of their learning journey. We feel encouraged to serve in this area. We hope we have much to share and gain in both supporting the grown-ups while they learn from God and the under 4s while they discover and have fun.”

CityLife Youth

Unless the lord builds the house, the builders labour in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.”
Psalm 127:1

City Life Youth is a group for those aged 11-18.

We meet at 7:30pm every Friday night for two hours and all youth are welcome, regardless of whether they attend City Life Church. During our meetings, we tackle social issues that concern youth today (such as pornography, music, mental health and identity), we play games and do a wide variety of activities. We also go on trips to places like Ice Sheffield and Alton Towers.

“Our vision as youth leaders is to equip our youth for the future, for living now and to build solid foundations in their lives.” – Steve and Zoe Hardy

Youth Leaders

Steve and Zoe Hardy

Steve and his wife Zoë joined City Life in 1995, one year after they married. This was before the church moved to its current building and changed its name. Steve and Zoe have been involved in children’s and youth work in some capacity the whole time they have been at City Life. Steve has also been involved in the Men’s ministry and the Leadership team. Steve’s vision is to serve God and make a difference in this world and also to build up our young people to be strong in the Lord and ready for the future. Zoe is passionate about loving God and her church family and wants to serve Jesus in all areas of her life. Zoe really enjoys working with the families who attend our Make Lunch events.

Prayer Ministry

Pray without ceasing”
1 Thessalonians 5:17

Prayer is at the heart of everything we do at City Life and we have a core team of intercessors who pray every day for the Church.

There are two prayer meetings each week, which everyone is welcome to join: Thursday evening from 7:30-9:00pm and Sunday morning from 9:00-10:00am before the service starts. Each year in January, we embark on a month of prayer and fasting. During this month, all meetings except for prayer meetings and Sunday services are put on hold and there is an extra prayer meeting on Tuesday evenings from 7:30-9:00pm.

“The aim of our meetings is to create a brotherly unity that the Lord can bless (Psalm 133:1), to meet and fellowship regularly together (Proverbs 27:17), to be ‘hungry for more of Jesus, to walk the highway of holiness together, to look out for each other, to challenge each other, to support each other, to mentor young men and new believers, to be an example to others as we follow Christ and to be willing servants in the Church.” – Walter Cartwright

Women's Ministry

Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.”
1 Thessalonians 5:11

The women’s life group meets every third Saturday of the month (except January) and all women are welcome to join us.

We organise different events like breakfast, coffee mornings and flower arranging. We worship the Lord, pray for one another and allocate time for women to share their testimonies and prayer requests. For information on upcoming women’s events, please see the events page. Our team also provide extra wellbeing support to women via texts and phone calls.

God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
John 4:24

The aim of the worship team is to facilitate worship within the Church by leading the people in singing joyful and spiritual songs to the Lord. Some members of the worship team also write songs and some of these have been recorded in a studio setting – please see the media page for more information.
